Spring and fall are our favorite seasons in Provence (summer is gorgeous but too crowded), and we're thrilled to report that we are planning to host more groups in Provence next year.
Guests fly overnight from the US, arriving in Marseille. We typically stay at Mas de Carassins, a lovely 18th-century-farmhouse-turned hotel in the village of Saint Remy, in the heart of Provence and in the foothills of the "Alpilles" or "baby Alps." From there, we tour this magical region with its Mediterranean climate, legendary outdoor markets, and rich artistic and Roman history. We enjoy daily excursions to towns of Aix, Arles, and Avignon as well as to the medieval hilltop village of Les Baux, including a stunning sound-and-light show, "Carrieres des Lumieres," set in a quarry at the entrance to the village.
We dine in local bistros, casual creperies, and also at award-winning restaurants with prominent chefs. We picnic on market day, play a lively game of Boules, and walk from our hotel to an ancient Greek/Roman village and the clinic, "Saint-Paul-de-Mausole," where Van Gogh lived and painted 150 works.
We also build in plenty of time to just relax at a local cafe with an espresso or a glass of local rosé.
